While the new Urgent Care Clinic is being constructed, Weems is operating a temporary clinic, Weems Medical Center East, at the former Carrabelle School at 1001 Gray Avenue, as of November 1, 2008. Please call for an appointment (850) 697-2345.

A referendum passed in Nov. 2007 by the voters of Franklin County assures that Weems Memorial Hospital will build an urgent care clinic in Carrabelle before the end of 2010. The hospital's governing body has purchased nearly five acres to be the future clinic's site next to the health department annex on Fifth Street in Carrabelle. The proposed building will be approximately 5000 square feet. It will house two physician offices, six examining rooms, and areas for radiology and laboratory.

In addition, a corridor between the clinic and the health department annex is proposed to allow health department personnel to share the radiology and laboratory areas with the clinic's staff in a cooperative way. Urgent care centers are primarily used to treat patients who have an injury or illness that requires immediate care but is not serious enough to warrant a visit to an emergency room. An urgent care condition could be a sprain, sore throat or rising temperature.
