Weems Memorial Hospital suggests these heart-healthy habits:
Swap sugary drinks for water.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Spend time with loved ones to reduce stress.
Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
We’re thrilled to share that the Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation has presented the Lanark community with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and protective case! This vital device, installed at Chillas Hall near the U.S. Postal Service substation, will be accessible to anyone needing it during a sudden cardiac arrest.
A huge thank you to the Lanark Village Association for allowing the AED to be placed on their property, and the St. James-Lanark Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin County EMS for installing it and committing to provide training.
Please familiarize yourself with the AED’s location and share this important information with your neighbors.
Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation
The Weems Memorial Healthcare Foundation exists to drive philanthropic support of Weems Memorial by actively supporting Weems' desire to serve the community and its visitors.
After a period of dormancy, the foundation was once again re-established in 2023; in 2024, the Foundation continued to increase presence, activity in a responsible way to garner community awareness and support. In 2025, we will expand our team and remain focused on critical events that drive greatest impact for the Franklin County community, served by Weems Memorial Hospital.

65th Anniversary Gala: Sapphire Celebration - A Great Success! Thank you to our partners, guests & enthusiasts!
Our sold-out Gala commemorating the 65th Anniversary of Weems Memorial Hospital took place November 9th included catering by local favorites, live music beginning to end of the event and silent auction made possible through donations by local businesses, residents and enthusiastic supporters. The proceeds raised have been earmarked to compliment funds raised in 2025 and will be presented to Weems Memorial Hospital in Q4, as communicated to the governing board in the final meeting in 2024.
Fall 2025 Gala is being planned - new venue, new theme, and more to come - visit again in future or watch for updates on our Facebook page!
We are expanding our board membership & looking for interested parties who have relevant philanthropic, entrepreneurial, or management experience.
